Welcome to the Earth Rights Eco-Village (EREV) Institute. This blog has been made to provide ongoing information on student projects, conversation club discussions, ongoing events, and other general discussions on sustainable development. Check us out at www.erevi.org
We offer the following educational programs
- Study abroad programs in sustainable development that enroll an international group of students. Students learn theoretical principles of appropriate development and develop projects in international teams with field experts and local community members in eco-villages .
- A cultural program and language center that provides cultural immersion opportunities for international visitors and subsidized language and literacy courses for Senegalese youth.
- Training programs in eco-villages using sustainable technologies in alternative energy, reforestation, permaculture, microcredit, health and ecotourism. After we trial projects in one village, we hold ‘training of trainers’ programs where outside eco-village leaders learn sustainable technologies and repeat them in their own villages.
- Courses in Ecovillage Design Education (EDE) teach principles of sustainability to eco-villages in both French and Wolof. Commencing in February 2010, we will begin teaching a month-long course on EDE curriculum, certified by Gaia Education.
